Beam

MEET BEAM

BEAM (Bright, Emotive, Animated Module) is a speculative look into home robotic design. As AI agents promise to populate the home, this project offers a biomimetic visual language as a counterpoint to the prevalence of both abstraction and anthropomorphism. It was one of the winners of the Interplay Kinetic Design Competition (2023) and was exhibited at the Royal Society of Sculptors (2023).

PRODUCTION

I was responsible for the look and feel of BEAM’s visual design and choreography, and helped with the modeling and printing of the physical prototype. It was sketched and choreographed in Blender, modeled for print on Fusion360, and animated through the Arduino multistepper library.
